You may recall from the recent residents’ survey that the names ‘Westgate’ and ‘Home Field’ came top in polling. Unfortunately ‘Westgate’ is not acceptable as it's the name of living residents and thereby contravenes a Dorset Council policy, and ‘Home Field’ is already in use for a road in Shaftesbury which could cause address confusion at the Post Office. ‘Sutton View’ and ‘Old Crown Road’ came 3rd and 4th respectively in the polling and are therefore adopted as the next options. For those of you who remember Gary Payne and the efforts he made to keep Fontmell Magna in pristine shape over the last 30 or so years, prior to his sad death in December, the Fontmell Magna Public Amenity Site Trust is attempting to raise money in order to purchase a seat, with a plaque, and install it at Middle Mill, as a memorial to him and to show the village's gratitude for all the hard work he has given, for free, over the years.
