Good News for Fontmell Magna!! FMPC is pleased to announce the application to build 25 houses on land North of Mill Street has been refused. This is an important decision for the future of the village, and much work has been done to protect this site for over six years. Thanks are extended to our residents and friends, experts, campaigners and supporters for all their help to get this result. While the applicant does have the right of appeal, this is the second time that a major application has been refused for this land, and that will have a bearing on any future applications. We look forward to peace and tranquillity returning to this rural, special, and beautiful place in our parish, so that it may be enjoyed by the many, and not just the few. Read More...

You may recall from the recent residents’ survey that the names ‘Westgate’ and ‘Home Field’ came top in polling. Unfortunately ‘Westgate’ is not acceptable as it's the name of living residents and thereby contravenes a Dorset Council policy, and ‘Home Field’ is already in use for a road in Shaftesbury which could cause address confusion at the Post Office. ‘Sutton View’ and ‘Old Crown Road’ came 3rd and 4th respectively in the polling and are therefore adopted as the next options.
