Precept Survey - A message from the Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner

Published: 18 December 2024

You may be aware that my office has launched the precept survey. We are asking Dorset residents if they would be willing will pay an extra £14 a year, £1.17 a month* to help fund Dorset Police for 2025/26.

More information about this year’s precept survey can be found in my newsletter (Dorset PCC launches precept survey · Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner) which gives more detail and outlines why I am asking for the support of residents again this year.

You will know my frustrations about having to ask for this money from the council taxpayer, but the ongoing financial situation with the national funding formula alongside other well-documented pressures dictates the absolute necessity to keep the Police and Crime Plan on course, a plan which is seeing positive results in many areas.

I would be very grateful if you would share the survey with your networks and on your social media platforms so that we can collect the views of as many Dorset residents as possible. To make the ‘sharing’ as easy as possible, I’ve also attached a graphic you can use to share the survey online.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to ask you to take the survey yourself – as your opinion is very important to me.

Thank you for taking the time to complete and share the survey. Your help in gathering the opinions of the people we all represent is very much appreciated.
