New Volunteer Needed For Communications Remit
Published: 17 March 2025
I will be stepping down from the Parish Council in May, and tomorrow’s meeting will be my last.
When I first joined the Parish Council, I had no idea what the role entailed, and I’ll admit, I didn’t even fully understand what a Parish Council did. In May, I will have completed four years in this role, and it has been such a rewarding experience.
Joining the Council was a decision I made with the hope that it would bring many positive aspects to my life. As a newcomer to the Parish, I also wanted to build connections, make friends, and become more involved in the community I had recently moved into. Thankfully, the experience has been everything I hoped for and more, even though I initially had a more skeptical view of what being a Parish Councillor was. At the end of the day, it’s like anything else—it’s what you make of it.
I am very proud of our Parish and the community we have here. So many people contribute to the greater good, and it’s truly heartwarming and comforting to see and experience. I hope you all feel this sense of connection and enjoy the benefits too.
One of the best ways to experience and contribute to this is by getting involved with the Parish Council. Even if you can only offer a little of your time, supporting your community and fellow Councillors can be very rewarding if you have a desire to get involved in your community.
I've thoroughly enjoyed overseeing communications during my time here. While there’s plenty of room for future development in this role, it’s also something that can be managed simply if needed.
The Communications role on the Parish Council involves sharing PC news through various channels, including the parish website, an email group, social media platforms, village shop liaison, parish notice boards, and the Annual Parish Report. It’s a straightforward role, and I encourage anyone interested to consider volunteering for this position and contacting the Clerk, Katie to let her know. I’m more than happy to help transition the role and provide any support necessary to the new person who takes it on.
For now, I’ll be happy to continue managing the Village website, so please keep sending me any notices or events you'd like me to add. This can be passed over to communications when the time is right.
Thank you for your support of me and the PC as a whole. Together we all create the positive environment and community that we desire to live in.
See you soon.
