Gore Clump Update
Published: 11 November 2025
Update from Dorset Council 4th November 2025
Dear Stakeholder,
As you are aware, Dorset Council is planning improvements to the junction of Boundary Road and the C13, commonly referred to as ‘Gore Clump’.
Dorset Council is now taking the opportunity to resurface Boundary Road during construction of the Gore Clump Safety Scheme. Combining construction of these schemes will be more cost effective and less disruptive than delivering independently.
However, this change of scope has led to changes in the approach to traffic management during the construction period. To ensure the safety of both the public and the workforce during construction, Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) and Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) measures will be implemented. These now include:
3-Way Temporary Traffic Lights at the junction. Only one arm of Boundary Road will be open at any time and both directions of the C13 will be under traffic light control throughout the works. Daytime Closures of Boundary Road from Monday 24 November to Friday 12 December. This closure will be weekdays only from 7.30am to 4.30pm - outside these dates/times a priority control system will be in place. Access to the airfield will be available from one end of Boundary Road at any given time, depending on the location of the works. Access will remain available for emergency services to ensure the safe operating of the airfield.
Night-time Closures (8pm to 6am) on Monday 15 December and Tuesday 16 December. During these closures, traffic will be diverted via the A350. Stop/Go traffic management will be in use during the day from Monday 15 December to Wednesday 17 December.
We understand that roadworks can be disruptive and we are committed to minimising inconvenience wherever possible. Advance Warning Signage will be installed two weeks prior to the start of construction to help drivers plan their journeys accordingly.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
24th September 2025
Dear Stakeholder,
As you are aware, Dorset Council is planning improvements to the junction of Boundary Road and the C13, commonly referred to as ‘Gore Clump’.
These proposed changes were subject to public consultation earlier this summer. Following that process, the necessary Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) have now been approved. Construction is scheduled to begin on 24 November 2025 with completion expected by 19 December 2025.
To ensure the safety of both the public and the workforce during construction, Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) and Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) measures will be implemented. These will include:
- 3-Way Temporary Traffic Lights at the junction. Only one arm of Boundary Road will be open at any time and both directions of the C13 will be under traffic light control throughout the works.
- Daytime Closures of Boundary Road. One arm will remain open while the other is closed for works.
- Night-time Closures (8pm to 6am) on both the C13 and Boundary Road for approximately two nights. During these closures, traffic will be diverted via the A350.
We understand that roadworks can be disruptive and we are committed to minimising inconvenience wherever possible. Advance Warning Signage will be installed two weeks prior to the start of construction to help drivers plan their journeys accordingly.
Following this email, Dorset Council will issue the formal TTRO primary consultation. You will also receive a construction start notification approximately two weeks before works commence.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
