Dorset Council Local Plan

The Dorset Council Local Plan Options Consultation Document 2025 was published on August 18th 2025.

Appendix A of the Local Plan includes proposals to build 105 homes in Fontmell Magna (see map below). There is a consultation period which runs from August 18th to October 13th 2025, and Dorset Council are running a series of consultation events, including in Shaftesbury and Blandford, starting in early September.

FMPC have already met with Cllr. Jane Somper to formulate a plan for disseminating information to parishioners, and coordinating responses.

Residents can respond to Dorset Council, either online or by downloading and completing a response form. We would encourage all of you to do so, and share your thoughts and any objections with Dorset Council.

Please note the following important dates relating to this plan:

1) 11th September Cllr. Jane Somper will be holding a joint ward meeting to discuss this plan with local residents. The venue and time is to be confirmed and as soon as we have these details we will share them.

2) The FMPC meeting is on the 16th September at 6.30pm at the Village Hall. Please attend and share your views with the PC.

The PC will also be looking at some potential dates to hold workshops where people can attend to discuss and complete response forms - more on this to follow depending on level of interest.
