The Gossip Tree - following Chris Bellers' departure from the village, the Gossip Tree will be taken forward by two new editors - Graham Eames and Ann Ashford. They will work more or less alternately with each responsible for their own monthly editions. Contributions to the newsletter should be sent to fmgossiptree@gmail.com.

18/10/19   Cranborne Chase has become the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to be formally designated an International Dark Sky Reserve.
02/09/19Parish Litter Pick - the autumn litter pick will take place on Sunday 3rd November starting at the Village Hall at 10.30am.  All equipment will be provided and DWP will collect the rubbish. Here's the risk assessment for this activity.
30/08/19The Ideal Health Exhibition – Live Life to the Full, will be held at the Exchange in Sturminster Newton on Saturday September 7th from 10.00 – 2.30pm.
Organised by the Patient Participation Group (PPG) of the Blackmore Vale Partnership, this will be a fantastic opportunity to have many of your queries regarding various medical, social and well-being issues answer. For more information click here

The Parish Council was up for election on Thursday 2nd May 2019, at the same time as the County Council election. There are seven places on the Parish Council but there were only four nominations: Chris Bellers, Mike Humphreys, Jeremy Long and Annie Newbury. Therefore, these four nominations will be elected unopposed with effect from 2nd May. As stated in the April Gossip Tree (Issue 302), Howard Horstead and Leo Williams decided not to stand; the Parish Council thanks them again for their many years of service on the Council.  Consequently, there are now three vacancies on the Parish Council.

03/04/19The Annual Parish litter pick is taking place on Sunday 7th April.  Please help us keep the village and parish looking clean; it just needs an hour of your time, all equipment provided and refreshments afterwards.  Meet at the Village Hall at 10.30am. 
30/11/18Following a majority 'yes' vote in the referendum, the decision was taken by NDDC on 28th November 2018 to make the Fontmell Magna Neighbourhood Plan 2017-2031 part of the development plan for the Fontmell Magna neighbourhood area.
03/12/18Details of Christmas Services 2018 in the Village have been published.

19/10/18 Polling cards issued by NDDC for the Neighbourhood Plan referendum on 15th November.  A drop-in session will be held on Saturday 10th November in the Village Hall between 10:00am-4:00pm for residents to ask questions about the plan prior to voting.
17/09/18 NDDC Cabinet approved the Neighbourhood Plan to go forward to a referendum on 15th November. The updated plan is available here.
24/08/18The Conservation Area Appraisal has been updated to include some of the buildings at Middle Farm, Lurmer Street.
10/08/18The Independent Examiner's report on the Neighbourhood Plan is published, recommending the Plan goes forward to a referendum.

27/04/18Grand Auction of Promises and Candlelit Meal will be held in the Village Hall on 30th June 2018 to raise funds towards replacing the boiler in St Andrews Church. Click here.
28/03/18Margaret Marande, 81, from Fontmell Magna, is to walk the 220-mile Hardy Walk, the long distance walk she created 20 years ago, to raise funds for three good causes. Click here to find out more.
16/03/18Following approval by the Parish Council, the Neighbourhood Plan has been submitted to NDDC for examination. The Plan and all the supporting documents are available on the parish website. Click here to view.
15/02/18The Neighbourhood Plan Submission edition will be discussed by the Parish Council on 12th March 2018. If approved it will be submitted to NDDC for examination. 
10/02/18The Conservation Area Appraisal has been formally adopted by NDDC, with effect from 14th February 2018. 
01/12/17 A Conservation Area Appraisal document has been published for consultation with all parish residents.  The consultation runs from 1st December 2017 to 12th January 2018.  Click here to view.
21/11/17   The Draft Neighbourhood Plan pre-submission consultation is now closed. Thanks to all residents who reviewed the documents and completed a questionnaire.  All comments will be considered by the Working Group and Draft Plan updated as appropriate.
